Solidarity Prints

European Solidarity Series

On a research trip to Gdańsk in Poland. I spent time “dérive”ing in Zaspa. The buildings, a ghost tribute to its former communist past, are now painted with murals and colours. I made a series of prints from this experience.

The prints are a visual and aesthetic celebration of form and architecture. A tribute to the City of Gdańsk. A tribute to the oddly complex neutral role that the city took during WW1 and WW2. A tribute to the Gdańsk Shipworkers who organised strikes in the 1980s which catalysed the fall of the Iron Curtain.
